Tupac Shakur Biopic Set to Start Filming This Spring
A movie about the life of Tupac Shakur has been put back in production following a lengthy legal battle with the late rapper’s mother Afeni Shakur-Davis.

The project had been in the works with the production company Morgan Creek, but was derailed when Shakur-Davis demanded extensive creative approval before signing over the rights to her son’s story and music. Morgan Creek then sued Shakur-Davis after she continued to negotiate after closing a deal, which resulted in her own countersuit claiming that no agreement had been made.

The dispute between Morgan Creek and Shakur-Davis was set to go to trial earlier this week, but a settlement was made after she met with director Antoine Fuqua to discuss his vision for the film. Now that the conflict with Shakur-Davis has been resolved, Morgan Creek has begun casting for the role of Tupac. The biopic is scheduled to start filming in the late spring.
