Last Beach Boys Show Due
The Beach Boys‘ final performance with the classic lineup that defined the group in the mid-Sixties will be released on February 25th. Good Timin’: Live at Knebworth captures the brothers Wilson — Brian, Dennis and Carl — with cousin Mike Love and friend Al Jardine at a June 1980 performance in the U.K.
The twenty-two-track album offers a cross section of Beach Boys’ classics including “Surfin’ USA,” “Good Vibrations” and “I Get Around,” and includes track-by-track commentary by the surviving band members in the liner notes. The CD will be followed by a DVD/VHS release later this year.
Three years after this performance, Dennis Wilson drowned off the coast of California. His death prompted the other Boys to reassemble for the The Beach ’85 album, but the years since have been marked by in-fighting and lawsuits. Carl Wilson died of cancer in 1998, and the current Beach Boys touring unit features Love as its only original member.
