‘Louie’ Going on Hiatus Until 2014
Louis C.K. announced in a conference call that his show Louie will be going on an extended hiatus until 2014, The Wrap reports. “I want the show to keep getting better,” C.K. said. “I want Season Four to go somewhere new.”
C.K. added that he saw the first three seasons of Louie as a trilogy of sorts, and he wants to start a new story when the show returns. C.K. said he plans to start shooting Season Four of Louie in September or October of 2013, with the show possibly returning to FX in May 2014.
No wonder he needs a break: For three seasons, C.K. has written, produced, directed, edited and starred in every episode of his widely acclaimed series. On top of all that, C.K. continues to travel and perform as a standup comic (he’s currently in the middle of a national tour). And like the title character of his show, C.K. shares joint custody of his two young daughters with his ex-wife.
“I think we have a pretty good thing going, meaning me, my ex-wife and them,” C.K. said. “But I’ve got to say goodbye to them every week. It’s something that gets routine but never easy.”
FX president John Landgraf added: “Sometimes there isn’t time to live when you’ve got a successful show and a successful career.” He also noted that the extended break will allow C.K. more time to grow as an artist.
