Ultra Music Festival 2013 Expands to Two Weekends
The Ultra Music Festival will become the first major EDM festival to take place over two weekends next year when it expands to fill six days in March. The festival will take place March 15th, 16th and 17th as well as March 22nd, 23rd and 24th.
The festival, which will celebrate its 15th anniversary next year, announced the two-weekend extravaganza at downtown Miami’s Bayfront Park with a countdown clock on its YouTube page that revealed the news as well as a 14-minute film compiling the best moments from this year’s Ultra fest.
“After an extremely successful 2012 edition of Ultra in Miami, and the continuous overwhelming demand by disappointed fans that were unable to attend because of the early sell-out, we’ve decided to do what Ultra has always consistently done throughout the years – pioneer and push the EDM movement forward,” said Ultra co-founder, president and CEO Russell Failbisch in a statement. “This is a unique concept from anything ever done before in our space, as it will be two weekends . . . two unique experiences. There are a lot of incredible plans and surprises lined up for everyone attending our 15th Year Anniversary!”
There’s no word yet on who will take the stage when Ultra returns, but Adam Russakoff, the festival’s executive producer, talent buyer and director of business affairs, promises plenty to come: “[T]wo weekends allows us to present even more and create two separate and distinct highly unique experiences for our attendees.”
Tickets for both weekends go on sale Wednesday October 17th through the Ultra website. And because March 2013 isn’t that far away, to help get you amped up and ready to roll, be sure to check out our list of the 30 greatest EDM albums of all time.
