Dr. Dog ‘That Old Black Hole’
Philadelphia-based rockers Dr. Dog are releasing their next album, Be the Void, on February 7th on Anti-Records. Their first single, the guitar-driven “That Old Black Hole” is fitting for an album that trades Dr. Dog’s symphonic pop for a more guitar-heavy rock sound.
The video for “That Old Black Hole” is high energy and frenetic, yet focuses on the band in a natural practice element. Director George Salisbury says that the shoot was exhausting, but the high-energy atmosphere was ideal to illustrate the song’s lyrics. “This video is the product of two manic, mate-fueled days in studio with no less than 144 complete takes in a non-stop performance marathon,” Salisbury says. “The hypnotic result of this process-driven experiment gives the viewer a brief glimpse into both the disorienting lyrics and the wavering sanity of the band members across the two-day session.”
