“Prescriptions,” the shimmery, poppy first track from Emil and Friends’ new album, Lo and Behold, is full of vibrant sounds that can make the summer seem endless. Lo and Behold will be the first full-length album from the artist formerly known as Emile, following last year’s EP Downed Economy. Band mastermind Emil Hewitt says he stumbled onto a sound that he believes will “pull the listener into a sleeping bag on the shingled roof of their best friend’s house, or place them wandering midsummer through a field so familiar that they are guided through the dark by memory instead of moonlight.” Absurd? Sure, but perhaps it’s just crazy enough to be true – towards the end of the track Emil blissfully croons, over and over, “It will make sense when I’m older.”
