On The Charts: Keys Edges “Juno” To Reclaim Top Spot
The Big News: Alicia Keys‘ one-week vacation off the top of the charts came to an end, as As I Am sold 61,259 copies to reclaim the top spot. Last week’s champ, the Juno soundtrack, fell to number two, while the Mars Volta’s Bedlam in Goliath was the week’s top debut, coming in at number three.
Debuts: It was a big week for debuts. In addition to the Mars Volta, two other first-weekers hit the top ten, with Bullet For My Valentine’s Scream Aim Fire at four and the 2008 Grammys Nominees compilation at five. Sarah Brightman’s Symphony entered at thirteen, Vampire Weekend’s much-hyped self-titled debut came in at seventeen and >Willie Nelson’s Moment of Forever landed at fifty-six. Also of note is Joe Jackson’s Rain, which dropped in at 133.
Last Week’s Heroes: It’s hard to consider anyone a “hero” when the best-seller routinely only shifts 60,000 copies. Natasha Bedingfield’s Pocketful of Sunshine dropped from three to twenty-one, while Radiohead’s In Rainbows finally fell out of the top ten after six weeks on the charts.
