Sting, Osbournes Win at Emmys
Ozzy Osbourne and family were omnipresent at last night’s Emmy
Awards ceremony, popping up in a show-opening skit and as
presenters. One week ago, The Osbournes also snapped up an
Emmy for Outstanding Non-fiction Program (Reality) at the Creative
Emmys.
The show opened with a skit in which host Conan O’Brien awoke in
the family’s home, late for the Emmy program, and got a ride, from
Osbourne, to the wrong venue. The family’s bulldog Lola also
shredded O’Brien’s tuxedo. The Osbournes reappeared to present the
award for Outstanding Directing in a Variety, Music or Comedy
program.
Sting also took home an Emmy for Outstanding Individual
Performance in a Variety or Music Program for his A&E special,
Sting in Tuscany . . . All This Time. The Outstanding
Variety, Music or Comedy Special Award had one winner shared among
all major networks: America: A Tribute to Heroes, which
featured performances by Bruce Springsteen, the Dixie Chicks,
Mariah Carey, Neil Young and others.
