Ozzy Ready to Rock Ozzfest
“I’m not dead yet,” announced Ozzy Osbourne Friday at Los Angeles’ Avalon club, “and I’m ready to rock.”
Flanked by wife Sharon and some of rock’s fiercest faces, Ozzy unveiled the 2004 edition of Ozzfest, which will kick off July 10th in Hartford, Connecticut.
In addition to Ozzy, who will be back at the mike after suffering a near-fatal ATV accident in December, this year’s roving festival will feature fellow vets Judas Priest and Slayer, Norwegian death metal crew Dimmu Borgir, Ozzy guitarist Zakk Wylde’s Black Label Society, and former Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo’s Superjoint Ritual.
“It’s harder than hard,” quipped Sharon, the festival’s co-founder, “and my god is it ugly!”
“This will be the most extreme Ozzfest ever,” agreed Priest singer Rob Halford, who just reunited with his band mates last year. “It’s a thrill to be back together.”
Iowa’s masked metal men Slipknot will headline the festival’s second stage, joining Hatebreed, Atreyu, Bleeding Through, Every time I Die, Unearthed and two bands handpicked by the Osbournes’ children Kelly and Jack: Lamb of God and Lacuna Coil.
Tickets for the show will range from $10 to $65, and Ozzy guarantees that festival-goers will get their money’s worth: “Considering I died twice, I feel pretty good.”
