Premiere: Susanna Hoffs Stays Hopeful in ‘Picture Me’
Susanna Hoffs‘ latest album Someday was her first solo release in more than 15 years, but the Bangles co-founder stays eternally young in the new video for “Picture Me.” With an air of whimsy, she jams on guitar by the poolside and laces the track with saccharine sweet vocals and delicate chord flicks. While Hoff sings and plays along, the clip follows couples as they build their love and share good times and bad.
“The song ‘Picture Me’ is about love – the desire to know true love, and the way we wonder and worry if the love we feel for another is reciprocated, real and lasting,” Hoffs tells Rolling Stone. The idea for the video stemmed from her fascination with how “the twentysomething generation” shares the stories of their lives through pictures on social media.
“The concept for this video was to spend an afternoon with three real couples, all in their twenties, and document their interaction – including the way they attempt to capture fleeting moments shared with their partner in photographs which, to me, is both bittersweet and hopeful, like the tone of the song,” Hoff says.
