Björk to Debut New ‘Biophilia’ Songs at Residency in England
Björk will be debuting new material from her forthcoming album Biophilia at a series of concerts at the Manchester International Festival in England between June 30th and July 16th. According to Björk, these performances are a meditation on the relationship between music, nature and technology and will feature live music as well as multimedia elements including installations, performance art and apps for mobile devices.
This set of shows will also include special instruments conceived and constructed specifically for these concerts, including custom-built digitally controlled pipe organs, a gamelan-celeste hybrid and a 30-foot pendulum that harnesses the planet’s gravitational pull to create musical patterns.

Björk intends to take this Biophilia show on the road following this premiere in Manchester, presumably as a way of promoting the new album. A release date for Biophilia has not been announced but it is expected to hit stores later this year.
