DMX to Complete Work on New Album
DMX has told VIBE magazine that he’s planning to hit the studio immediately after finishing a six month jail sentence next month. The record, which has been in the works for some time, is said to include music by longtime collaborator Swizz Beatz and guest appearances by Sean Kingston, Drag-On, Tyrese and the LOX. [Billboard]
The Roots Announce New York Gigs
?uestlove and the Roots are set to perform a series of shows in New York City next week. ?uestlove will play two gigs as part of a supergroup including Booker T. Jones, Christian McBride, Eric Krazno and Gary Bartz at the Blue Note on June 20th and 21st. The next night at the Blue Note, the full Roots band will accompany Rakim as he performs his classic album Paid In Full in its entirety. The band will wrap up the run of gigs by performing a set of their own tunes at the Van Jones MoveOn event at the Town Hall on June 23rd. [Press release]

Mixtape rapper Freddie Gibbs has announced plans to record an entire album tomorrow with DJ Statik Selektah in just 24 hours at the producer’s studio in Brooklyn.
