Aerosmith Unveil ‘Legendary Child’ Single on ‘American Idol’
Aerosmith unveiled “Legendary Child,” their first new tune in six years, during American Idol’s season finale on Wednesday night, marking the band’s long-awaited first performance on the show since Steven Tyler was announced as a judge in 2010. The band also played their smash hit, “Walk This Way.”
Speaking with Rolling Stone earlier this month, Perry said that his earlier resistance towards performing on Idol stemmed from his surprise over the news that Tyler would be joining the show as a judge, an announcement that came unexpectedly while the band was on tour. “It’s not about the show, it’s about how we found out about it,” explained Perry. “It was a bit of a shock and it took us off balance.”
“Legendary Child” is the first single from Aerosmith’s new album, Music From Another Dimension, due out on August 28th. Said Perry, “I’ve been wanting this record to come out for years, but there’s a reason for everything and the timing for this is just right.”
