The band has yet to reveal what other shows it intends to release or when it will post them.
Where Did My Morning Jacket Frontman Jim James’ ‘A New Life’ Rank Among the 100 Best Songs of 2013?
Online concert downloads have become more and more common in recent years, and Nugs.net, the website behind LiveDownloads.com, is also behind artist-specific download sites for such groups as Phish, Metallica and the Dave Matthews Band. Another recent convert to sharing concerts online: Bruce Springsteen, who told NPR, “I’d like to get an archival series going in some way. I’d like to make things more available through the Internet. The Internet has become our friend. . . I think we live more in a Grateful Dead touring idea that everything you do is recorded now. And that’s OK with me, you know.”
In other My Morning Jacket news, frontman Jim James recently participated in a new version of the 1985 single “The Super Bowl Shuffle.” According to Pitchfork, James played sax alongside Les Savy Fav frontman Tim Harrington, comedian Tom Scharpling, the Long Winters’ John Roderick, and even a “celebrity cat,” Lil Bub, who played parts first recorded by the Chicago Bears Shufflin’ Crew. Louisville radio host Sean Cannon assembled the talent for the track, which will be released as a seven-inch to benefit the charity Reading Is Fundamental. The track is currently available on Misfire Records’ Bandcamp page.
