NBC Drops ‘Sing Off,’ Adds New Singing Competition
NBC has cancelled The Sing Off after three seasons and replaced it with a new singing competition called The Winner Is, Entertainment Weekly reports. The new show, which comes from The Voice producer John de Mol, will pit singers from all walks of life against each other in one-on-one duels. The matches will be judged by an in-studio panel that has yet to be cast.
Singers on The Winner Is will be competing for a $1 million prize, but will have the option to cash out before they are eliminated, much like in Deal or No Deal. The show has no premiere date set, but it looks likely that it will air sometime when NBC’s other talent shows, The Voice and America’s Got Talent, are on hiatus.
