McWilliams allegedly opened fire in Montgomery’s Centennial Hill Bar and Grill at around 1:30 a.m. on December 28th, killing 22-year-old Hustle Gang rapper Doe B (real name Glenn Thomas) and 21-year-old Troy University student Kimberle Johnson. The shooter injured six others, and those bystanders were in stable condition over the weekend.
CNN reports that a police statement claimed that the shooting “stemmed from an ongoing dispute” between the rapper and McWilliams. Police records do not indicate whether McWilliams has an attorney yet.
One of the six people who were injured, 20-year-old Clarence Young, spoke out about the night at a vigil for the rapper and Johnson on December 29th. Young told the Montgomery Advisor that he was at the bar that night to celebrate a friend’s birthday. He said he heard at least 10 shots. “It sounded like it was from just one gun,” he told the newspaper. “There were a lot of people in the club. I heard the first couple of shots and felt the blow.”
Young also said he knew Johnson from high school. “It was just a bunch of friends out having a good time, and then this,” he said. “I’m not taking it well, not at all.”
Doe B was signed to T.I.‘s Grand Hustle Records, for which he contributed to Hustle Gang’s G.D.O.D. comp. Last summer, the rapper – who wore an eyepatch as a result of a previous shooting – released his own mixtape, Baby Jesus. After news of Doe B’s death, T.I. tweeted, “RIP to my lil brother Doe B. We gon miss u my n***a. U’ll never be forgotten & U WILL NOT DIE IN VAIN. We Love U champ. Always.”
