Juliette Commagere Remixes ‘Vampire’ – Song Premiere
With the release of her third LP, Human, witchy synth-pop songstress Juliette Commagere turned plenty of heads in 2013. Now she’s carrying that momentum into the new year with help from some famous friends, Maynard James Keenan and Mat Mitchell of Puscifer, who’ve added some expansive touches to a remix version of her track “Vampire.”

“When I die, I’ll give you my empire,” Commagere sings on the remix over menacing minor-key guitars and twitchy percussion. “Tonight, we’re dancing on the fire/ Kissing the vampire.” Keenan and Mitchell give the track a grandiose sonic landscape, and Commagere (an occasional Puscifer collaborator) is quite impressed with the duo’s new treatment.
“Maynard James Keenan, Mat Mitchell and I met at a Sbarro where I bought them pasta bowls and begged them to do a remix for me,” Commagere tells Rolling Stone. “Sometimes I sing with their band Puscifer, and so I reminded them that they really owe me. Mat is one of the genius minds behind Puscifer, and between the two of them, they created this spooky and beautiful remix of my song ‘Vampire.’ When I first met these guys, I was really intimidated, but the truth is they are just cuddle-bunnies. I just wanted everyone to know that.”
The “Vampire” remix will be available on iTunes tomorrow, January 14th. In the meantime, check out an exclusive stream of the track, located below.
