Hot Since 82 Takes a Sinister Turn on ‘Shadows’ – Premiere
Hot Since 82, a/k/a British DJ-producer Daley Padley, is going dark. . . really dark. Padley got his start by DJing 12-hour sets in his hometown of Barnsley, South Yorkshire before graduating to a residency in the dance music capital Ibiza. He then moved to producing and remixing some of the UK’s rising EDM artists. Now, in his new video for “Shadows,” off Little Black Book, Padley presents one of his most sinister worlds to date.

The video starts with a young man shackled inside a room reminiscent of Saw. As the young man convulses, a doctor performs gruesome surgery, cutting skin and implanting wires. The video then flips to a soldier driving a Mad Max-style car through a post-apocalyptic wasteland. As she drives, Hot Since 82 backs the scene with a menacing, pulsing house beat and the Leeds-based Alex Mills croons an R&B hook. Then the soldier in the video breaks into a building and starts crushing people’s skulls with a hammer, kicking off a chain of events that only escalates in brutality.
Little Black Book is out now. Hot Since 82 has a few European dates left this year, if you want to get dark on the dance floor.
