The Scandals Pull ‘All Nighters’ – Premiere
New Jersey punk band the Scandals strip down “All Nighters,” as frontman Jared Hart descends on the Asbury Park, New Jersey basement studio known as Little Eden for this raw, emotive video. Ahead of the performance, which debuts on the Red Bull Music Channel on December 6th, Hart sits down with two of his Garden State heroes, Brian Fallon (the Gaslight Anthem) and studio proprietor Pete Steinkopf (Bouncing Souls), for some advice in this must-see clip.

“Recording at Little Eden was sort of unreal,” Hart tells Rolling Stone. “It’s a place that houses a band that, growing up, was so important and influential to us. Then we had the chance to run the same lines and the same amps as the Bouncing Souls. You really can’t help feeling overly creative in that space – it just overflows.”
Hart says spending time with Fallon and Steinkopf was encouraging. “With Brian and Pete, they both get it. They understand and get it in the same way that we do, with what’s going on within the realm of our genre today. They are in it for the long haul, and to share a mutual respect for the work that they do, as well as what we do, is something I value greatly.”
As for the track, which originally appeared on 2012’s Steinkopf-produced Trenchknife EP, Hart says, “The song was kind of an accident. It was my second year in college, and each line is from a different time and representing a different thing that was going on, so it really encompasses a whole period of time in my life. It has this nostalgic feeling of this time and place for me.”
On a related note, the Bayonne-based band will return to Asbury Park alongside Street Dogs for a performance at Asbury Lanes on December 22nd. The Scandals will wrap up 2013 with a gig supporting Andrew W.K. at the Boneyard in Atlantic City on December 27th.
