Broken Bells Throw a Space Party in New ‘After the Disco’ Video
The surrealistic story of an alien encounter with Shins frontman James Mercer and Danger Mouse – a.k.a. indie-pop duo Broken Bells – continues in “Holding on for Life,” the second part of director Jacob Gentry’s film short, After the Disco. The new clip picks up after the closing scene of Part One, “Angel and the Fool,” but only snippets of the tune come through as actor Anton Yelchin (Star Trek, Fright Night) and actress Kate Mara (House of Cards, 127 Hours) attempt to figure out just what the hell is happening to them.

The seven-minute clip intercuts scenes from a party with those of Helen (Mara) readying herself by putting makeup on in a mirror and staring at her space-helmet, thinking back to the last episode when Oliver found her in on a rocky landscape. She eventually makes it to the dance (she passes Mr. Mercer and Mr. Mouse’s couture test with flying colors) only to find out what Oliver’s up to. From there, things get even more bizarre, setting up what could be a very curious Part Three.
