Bob Weir Books Ratdog Tour for Early 2014
Bob Weir will hit the road with Ratdog early next year for a month-long tour that could coincide with the release of a six-disc live recording of shows he and Rob Wasserman performed with the Jerry Garcia Band in 1989.
Weir’s tour will begin February 14th in Philadelphia and run through March 16th in Atlanta, according to an itinerary posted on the guitarist’s Facebook page. He’ll be joined by Jeff Chimenti, Steve Kimock, Jay Lane, Robin Sylvester and Wasserman. Tickets are available for pre-order now through gdtstoo.com.
Which Grateful Dead Concerts Made Our List of 20 Essential Dead Shows?
The new live collection, Fall 1989: The Long Island Sound, collects two complete concerts by Weir and Wasserman and the Jerry Garcia Band from the Hartford Civic Center on September 5th, 1989, and Nassau Coliseum on September 6th, 1989. There’s no word yet on a release date, according to a separate Facebook post.
Weir is also scheduled to perform with Furthur at the One Big Holiday festival that My Morning Jacket is planning for January in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Weir bowed out of a tour with the Grateful Dead offshoot earlier this year after he fell down onstage during a show in Port Chester, New York. Weir canceled all his scheduled performances for several weeks following the April incident, though the singer and guitarist returned to the road over the summer to perform on several Americanarama tour dates with Bob Dylan, Wilco and My Morning Jacket.
