Broken Bells Are ‘Holding on for Life’
Since James Mercer and Danger Mouse‘s Broken Bells‘ announced their new album After the Disco, they’ve twice teased us with new music – first in the album announcement trailer, and last week in a seven-minute sci-fi short film. Today, they let loose the first single from the new album, “Holding on for Life,” a mid-tempo, psychedelic-funk number that finds James Mercer honing his falsetto skills and exploring themes of loneliness.

Broken Bells debuted in 2010 with their self-titled album, which yielded five singles, including “The High Road” and “The Ghost Inside.” Since then, Mercer’s full time gig, the Shins returned with Port of Morrow and Danger Mouse has been busy at the production helm, working with the Black Keys, Norah Jones and U2.
