Reba McEntire to Mark 40th Anniversary of Opry Debut With Special Shows
Reba McEntire will give two special performances at the Grand Ole Opry next month. The Country Music Hall of Fame member returns to the famous Nashville stage to mark the 40th anniversary of her Opry debut: she first sang in the iconic circle in 1977.
McEntire will perform two shows on Friday, September 22nd, mixing her hits with songs off her latest album, Sing It Now: Songs of Faith & Hope, a collection of her favorite gospel tunes.
McEntire announced the appearance in an online video, in which she recalls her first time at the Opry when the show’s producers gave half of her time away at the last minute to Dolly Parton. McEntire also came close to missing her performance all together after a security guard refused to let her in.
Almost 10 years later, the Oklahoman became an official member of the Grand Ole Opry on January 17th, 1986.
