‘The Tick’: Watch Hilarious Debut Trailer for Amazon Superhero Comedy
Amazon teased its upcoming superhero-comedy series, The Tick, with a hilarious trailer promising an “epic tale ripe with destiny, adventure, blood loss and good against evil.” The show, based on Ben Edlund’s comic book of the same, co-stars the titular crime-fighter (Peter Serafinowicz) and his overwhelmed sidekick, accountant Arthur Everest (Griffin Newman), who team to take down a global super-villain.
The clip opens with the Tick breaking down his superhero credentials, including his bulletproof frame and massive bench pressing capabilities. His one weakness: He can’t fly, as illustrated by a shot of him plummeting out of a window onto the sidewalk. Everest, still learning the ropes, survives two point-blank gunshots, high voltage shocks and a three-story drop. “Look at you,” the Tick marvels. “You’re as alive as a daisy!”
The Tick Season One will hit Amazon Prime Video in two six-episode installments. The first is out Friday, August 25th, with the second following in early 2018. The show also stars Valorie Curry, Jackie Earle Haley, Yara Martinez, Brendan Hines, Scott Speiser and Michael Cerveris. Edlund and the show’s cast will appear at San Diego Comic-Con 2017, which runs from July 20th to the 23rd.
