See Miranda Lambert Sing U2’s ‘Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For’
Miranda Lambert is among the literally millions of fans who have caught U2’s current stadium tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of the band’s landmark album The Joshua Tree. The country star was spotted mingling among the general admission crowd at the band’s June 16th concert at Louisville, Kentucky’s unfortunately named Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium. “This changed my life,” Lambert tweeted afterward, along with a photo from the show. “And my way of thinking. About music & art. About drive & heart. Thank you @U2. I’ll never be the same.”
Perhaps (or more like probably) the show inspired Lambert to close her headlining performance at the Faster Horses Festival in Brooklyn, Michigan, Saturday night with a loose, spirited and gushingly heartfelt performance of the Joshua Tree megahit “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,” which a front-row fan captured on their smartphone in the clip above.
Former The Voice contestant and Lambert backing singer Gwen Sebastian, along with members of Lambert’s band and Texas artist Blu Sanders, weren’t the only ones to lend their pipes to the country-tinged rock-gospel tune. By the first chorus the fans were singing along as well, giving Lambert an epic Bono moment. The performance only furthers the case of U2’s ongoing influence over today’s country music, which Rolling Stone Country anatomized earlier this month.
