Chart Watch: Blake Shelton, Sam Hunt Score Milestone Number One Songs
Blake Shelton and Sam Hunt find themselves atop the country songs charts this week. For Shelton, he’s Number One on both the Billboard Country Airplay chart and the Medibase chart with his single “Every Time I Hear That Song.” It’s a particularly noteworthy milestone for the Oklahoma country singer: the Number One marks Shelton’s 24th chart-topper.
“Every Time I Hear That Song” appears on Shelton’s latest album If I’m Honest, which was certified Gold for moving 500,000 copies.
Hunt’s “Body Like a Back Road,” meanwhile, sits atop the Hot Country Songs chart – which factors in streaming and digital sales, along with radio play – for a 21st week. Last week, the crossover single broke the record for longest stay in the Number One slot for a solo artist, eclipsing Leroy Van Dyke’s 1961 hit “Walk on By.” Florida Georgia Line hold the record for longest time overall at Number One on Hot Country Songs – 24 weeks – with their juggernaut “Cruise.”
Both Shelton and Hunt are currently on the road, with Shelton playing Ohio tonight and Penn State University this weekend. Hunt’s 15 in a 30 Tour, with Maren Morris and Chris Janson, hits St. Louis, Cincinnati and the Chicago area beginning Friday.
