Conor McGregor, Floyd Mayweather Hold Expletive-Filled Press Conference
UFC star Conor McGregor and boxing legend Floyd Mayweather are scheduled to square off on August 26th at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, with McGregor walking in as the underdog against Mayweather, possibly the best boxer of his generation. Ahead of the spectacle, the two opponents are ratcheting up the tension with four explosive press conferences, the first of which occurred at Los Angeles’ Staples Center this afternoon.
“He’s in a tracksuit, he can’t even afford a suit anymore! He is fucked,” McGregor sneered in a clingy pinstripe suit. His opponent, Mayweather, stood mere feet behind him as they took turns deriding each other at the podium. “I’m going to knock him out inside four rounds, mark my words.” The crowd cheered.
Mayweather, wearing a vibrant sweatsuit, rebuffed McGregor’s heated jabs. “I’m going to knock this bitch out,” he said. The crowd booed. (“You haven’t knocked anyone out for 20 years!” McGregor quipped from the sideline).
“I’m not the same fighter I was 10 years ago. Or five years ago. Or two years ago,” Mayweather continued. “But I’ve got enough to beat you … We know that Mr Tapout likes to quick. He can choose which way he wants to go. Either on his back or or on his face.”
The two brash competitors with egos big enough to fill any room always know how to put on a show. The two have spent months taunting each other. But the linguistic arena is one in which McGregor – “The Notorious” – has the clear upper-hand, especially when it comes to press conferences.
