See Dierks Bentley’s Rowdy Live Show in ‘What the Hell Did I Say’ Video
The fourth single from his now-year-old LP Black, “What the Hell Did I Say” doubles, not-so-coincidentally, as the title of Dierks Bentley‘s raucously entertaining summer tour, with the track’s official video capturing fans – and the superstar performer – in all their beer-drinking, merry-making glory.
Penned by the prolific trio of Ross Copperman, Josh Kear and Chris Tompkins, what lies below the celebratory surface of “What the Hell Did I Say” is yet another take on the multifaceted subject of relationships, the central theme explored through myriad styles and moods throughout Black.
“As a country fan, I love different country music for different reasons,” Bentley tells Rolling Stone Country. “Our live show is very loud and fun and we’re shotgunning beers with fans, and stage diving, but on the bus, I like listening to sad, more lonesome, dirtier stuff. Whether lyrically or musically, it reaches in there and grabs your soul. That’s the stuff I gravitate toward. I ended up making a record that I think goes down that road of intrigue and mystery.”
