Watch Rae Sremmurd, Roots Perform Bass-Heavy ‘Swang’ on ‘Fallon’
Rae Sremmurd celebrated Swae Lee’s birthday with a performance of their new SremmLife 2 track “Swang” on The Tonight Show Wednesday. Swae and his co-emcee Slim Jxmmi took the stage with the Roots, who provided the song’s bass-heavy beat and syrupy synths.
Swae Lee commandeered the cut, jumping easily between spitting bars to crooning the end of the defiant hook in his surprisingly delicate falsetto: “Hop out, drop, top, got y’all talkin’ I need it right now/ Cash in the air, yeah, what goes up gotta come down.”
Rae Sremmurd released SremmLife 2 last August, scoring a major hit the with their single “Black Beatles.” The group has a handful of U.S. concerts lined up this month before embarking on a European tour this summer. They’ll perform at Lollapalooza in Chicago in August.
In April, Rae Sremmurd tweeted that they were working on a new album, SremmLife 3, and debuted a new song during a concert in Ohio. Rae Sremmurd also recently appeared on Mike Will Made-It’s “Perfect Pint” alongside Gucci Mane and Kendrick Lamar.
