Jason Isbell Unveils ‘Nashville Sound,’ Chris Stapleton Goes Gold
Jason Isbell, Eli Young Band and Steve Earle all unveil new albums today, making for a diverse slate of country and Americana releases.
Isbell and his band the 400 Unit return with The Nashville Sound, his sixth album and the follow-up to 2015’s Something More Than Free. Like that project, The Nashville Sound was produced by Dave Cobb.
Eli Young Band also release their sixth album, Fingerprints. After experimenting with danceable pop crossovers on their Turn It On EP, the Texas quartet return to their roots on the LP, led by new single “Never Land.”
Finally, outspoken Steve Earle unveils his 16th album, So You Wanna Be an Outlaw. Featuring a smart, twangy sound that recalls his breakout LP Guitar Town, the album features Willie Nelson on the title track and a tribute to one of Earle’s mentors, the late Guy Clark.
But it’s Chris Stapleton who has the biggest album news in country music: his lastest album From A Room: Volume One has been certified Gold for selling over 500,000 copies. Just released in early May, it’s the fifth album of 2017 to reach that status – and the only one in country music this year.
