See ‘Transparent’ Matriarch Maura Eat Weed Gummy in New Trailer
After taking a cruise that led the Pfefferman family to acrimony in the final episode of Transparent’s third season, the clan is back home, pushing forward and still coming of age in the trailer for the Amazon series’ fourth season, which does not yet have a confirmed premiere date.
The one-minute clip shows matriarch Maura (Jeffrey Tambor) opining on dating life itself, son Josh (Jay Duplass) feeling smothered by mother Shelly (Judith Light), saying, “Your energy is like there’s a gas fire in the kitchen right now,” and daughter Ali (Gaby Hoffmann) giving Maura a medical-marijuana gummy bear – which the “moppa” then eats wholesale without a second thought. “I was just gonna have you eat the head,” Ali says, mouth agape. “You’re gonna be so high.”
Last year, the series won three Emmys: Tambor took home a trophy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, creator Jill Soloway took one home for directing and the series got another one for its production design. Tambor and Soloway also won Emmys in 2015 in the same categories and the series took home an additional three that year.
When Rolling Stone interviewed Tambor about the show in 2014, during its first season, the actor spoke to how he approached playing a transgender character at time when he considered himself “ignorant with a capital ‘ig.'” “I want to make her as human as possible, as fallible as possible, as petty as possible, as glorious as possible and ultimately as human as possible,” he said. “She’s not a saint, and she’s very real to me. I would say it’s the most transformative role that I’ve had to play to date.”
