Watch Hilarious ‘Wet Hot American Summer: 10 Years Later’ Trailer
The debut trailer for Wet Hot American Summer: 10 Years Later, Netflix‘s upcoming sequel series, showcases the weird, winding life paths of Camp Firewood’s signature misfits.
In 1991, a decade after leaving the fictional Maine summer camp, Lindsay (Elizabeth Banks) hosts her own news show, “Puff Stuff”; McKinley (Michael Ian Black) is the father of a newborn baby; Victor (Ken Marino) is a male stripper; Andy (Paul Rudd) roams around in a leather jacket emblazoned with a “Most People Suck” patch; and a ragged-looking Gene (Christopher Meloni), who lives out of his RV, is clearly the long-lost father of Gail’s (Molly Shannon) bandana-wearing daughter.
The friends live up to their decade-old promise to reunite at the camp – an occasion Susie (Amy Poehler) marks by shouting “What’s up, bitches? Let’s rage!” after crashing the scene in a taxi.
After a distraught Beth (Janeane Garofalo) announces she’s selling the camp, the reformed group attempts to save their old stomping grounds. In one hilarious scene, Katie (Marguerite Moreau) rejects Andy’s flirtatious advances, emphasizing that rescuing the camp is “all they’re doing” together. A stoner-looking Rudd replies, “We could do more, like with our tongues and butts.”
Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later – directed by David Wain and co-written by Wain and Michael Showalter – is set a decade after the events of the 2001 film. The eight-part limited series is Netflix’s second revival of the cult classic comedy, following the 2015 prequel project First Day of Camp.
10 Years Later – which launches globally on Friday, August 4th – also features Wain and Showalter among its all-star cast, along with A.D. Miles, Beth Dover, Chris Meloni, Chris Pine, David Hyde Pierce, H. Jon Benjamin, Jason Schwartzman, Joe Lo Truglio, John Early, Josh Charles and Kristen Wiig.
New cast members include Dax Shepard, Alyssa Milano, Samm Levine and Adam Scott – the latter in what Netflix describes as a “hilarious secret role.”
