See Will Ferrell’s George W. Bush Visit Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner
Will Ferrell‘s George W. Bush served as one of the special guests at Samantha Bee and Full Frontal‘s “Not the White House Correspondents Dinner” special Saturday night in Washington, D.C.
“How do you like me now, huh?” “Bush” asked the room as he stamped out a cigarette with his shoe. “The prodigal son has returned. I don’t know what that means but it’s positive.”
“Bush” then commented on his own “strained, contentious” relationship with the press.
“You guys would always sneak up on me with ‘gotcha’ questions like ‘Why are we going to war? Gotcha’ and ‘Why did you not respond to Hurricane Katrina? Gotcha,'” he said. “I just wish someone had told me all you had to say was ‘fake news’ over and over again. That could be your answer to everything.”
“Bush” also lamented the ousting of some prominent Fox News employees. “They’re firing anchors over there faster than you can say ‘Hey, hot chocolate.'”
The former president, who has developed an affinity for portraiture following his time in the White House, then showed the audience his unfinished painting of Donald Trump.
“As you can see, I exhausted my palette of yellows and oranges,” Ferrell’s Bush said. “It’s clear that he has an unnatural color to him, it’s a strange hue, it’s not really orange or yellow. I have a new name for that color, they should just call it Mar-a-Lago.”
In October, Ferrell revived his famed Dubya impersonation to bash Trump and defend his cousin Billy Bush on @midnight.
