Hear Chris Young’s Sexy New Song ‘Losing Sleep’
“Losing Sleep” is a pretty coy title for Chris Young‘s latest release – a song that’s all about setting the mood for what goes on between the sheets. Young teamed up with Chris DeStefano and Josh Hoge to write the tune, the first single from his upcoming studio album.
The song kicks off with a slow guitar hook – reminiscent of Justin Bieber’s opening chords on “Love Yourself’ – that teleports listeners to a horizontal state of mind: “Light a candle / Turn all the lights down low / Baby let’s just lose control / I can handle every single curve you know,” he croons, before the music shifts gears to mid-tempo rocker with some of the slickest production and heaviest percussion of Young’s music to date. Young’s no stranger sensual lyrics – previous number one singles include “Gettin’ You Home’ and “I’m Comin’ Over’ – but when the song crescendoes in a whirl of aggressive guitar solos and a final purr of that gentle intro lick, you can’t help but think that the attempt to lose sleep was a successful endeavor.
Most recently, Young released the 2016 holiday collection It Must Be Christmas and wasn’t in a rush to complete his next album.
“It’s possible that we could go into the studio sometime next year,” he told Rolling Stone Country in October. “But I am always writing, so you never know. That is one thing I always do. No one has to push me to write.”
Young will spend a portion of this summer playing country festivals as well as supporting live dates for Jason Aldean and Blake Shelton.
