See David Lynch, Kyle MacLachlan in Mysterious New ‘Twin Peaks’ Teaser
The latest Twin Peaks trailer, which comes a little over a week before the series is set to return, offers more glimpses at the show, building more intrigue about the mystery. A black-and-white stairway with electricity sounds, a figure walking in the shadows, a policeman grabbing a bag from the trunk of his car, an RV set up in the woods. Those scenes, along with shots of the seedy Bang Bang Bar, director David Lynch as his FBI character and series star Kyle MacLachlan, create a purposely curious mosaic, some of which will come into focus when Showtime airs the series’ reboot premiere on May 21st at 9 p.m. EST.
Series co-creators Lynch and Mark Frost co-wrote each episode of the revival, and Lynch directed each of its 18 parts. The story picks up 25 years after the events in the original run, which ended in 1991 with a cliffhanger when ABC canceled the show.
Several original cast members, including MacLachlan, Mädchen Amick, Sherilyn Fenn, Sheryl Lee and Ray Wise, will reprise their roles. A previously released teaser shows those characters as they look now. New additions to the cast include Laura Dern, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Trent Reznor, Eddie Vedder, Monica Bellucci and Amanda Seyfried, among others. The nature of their characters has yet to be revealed.
The first two installments in the series will air on the 21st, and immediately at their conclusion, Showtime will make the third and fourth available on-demand and via its Showtime Anytime service.
