See Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood’s Surprise ‘Play It Again’ Duet
In town to kick off his 2017 Huntin’, Fishin’ And Lovin’ Every Day Tour with a pair of weekend shows at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, Luke Bryan surprised the hometown crowd at his Saturday night show by bringing out Carrie Underwood to sing a couple of songs.
Sporting a Nashville Predators jersey with husband Mike Fisher’s number on it, Underwood came on stage during Bryan’s “Play It Again.” After enthusiastically passing off a Predators hat to Bryan – the team is currently headed to the 2017 Western Conference Finals of the Stanley Cup Playoffs – Underwood traded verses on Bryan’s chart-topping hit from 2014’s Crash My Party. With Bryan moving to a piano in the center of the arena, the pair segued into Randy Travis’ 1987 hit “I Told You So,” later recorded by Underwood for the 2007 album Carnival Ride (and then again as a duet with Travis), backed by Bryan’s band.
Bryan’s kickoff shows, with openers Adam Craig and Brett Eldredge, also featured other surprise guests. On Friday night, Karen Fairchild of Little Big Town joined Bryan for a mid-set performance of their chart-topping duet “Home Alone Tonight” and the Grammy-winning “Girl Crush.” On Saturday, Cole Swindell was there to help out on Bryan’s hit “Roller Coaster” and Florida Georgia Line’s “This Is How We Roll,” both of which he co-wrote.
