Krauss, who often also plays fiddle while singing, needed only piano, light drums and a mournful steel guitar, in addition to the Cox siblings’ sparkling harmonies to bring the tune, about a woman desperate not to lose her love to the gale-force pull of the metropolitan locale.
Krauss was introduced by special guest host Kristen Bell, who sat in for Kimmel as the funnyman spent time at home with his wife, daughter and newborn son, Billy. The youngest Kimmel was born April 21st with a congenital heart defect and underwent emergency surgery shortly after he was born. He went home six days after having surgery. On Monday’s show, a tearful Kimmel revealed details of the ordeal to the studio audience and viewers, and made a plea for donations to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where his son was treated. He also urged politicians on both sides of the aisle to make sure all Americans, especially those with pre-existing conditions, have access to healthcare.
