See Soulful Newcomer Devin Dawson’s Tender ‘All on Me’ on ‘Seth Meyers’
Devin Dawson’s off to a good start in 2017. After releasing his first songs as a major label artist during the winter, he hit the road with Maren Morris, joining her each night to duet on her song “Company You Keep.” Now, with a full-length album due later this year, the California native can add late-night TV to his resume, thanks to his network debut Thursday night on Late Night with Seth Meyers.
Dawson, who lives in Nashville, looked right at home on the Late Night stage, where he performed his lead single, “All on Me.” A mix of R&B, pop, and country, got almost two million plays in two weeks when he released it to Spotify, and it’s a perfect introduction to his music: A sensitive, selfless love song, “All on Me” pairs a smooth melody with Dawson’s soulful vocal delivery. It’s compact, too, with last night’s performance clocking in at less than three minutes.
“All on Me” got its official release as single through Warner Nashville on Monday, and tonight will mark another milestone for Dawson, who makes his debut at the Grand Ole Opry. While he awaits the release of his yet-to-be-named LP, Dawson will get a break in performing before hitting the road in support of an even bigger-ticket tour, Tim McGaw and Faith Hill’s Soul2Soul World Tour, in July.
