Hear Chris Janson’s Escapist New Song ‘Fix a Drink’
Missouri native Chris Janson, whose 2015 album Buy Me a Boat produced the Number One title track, is back with another song from an upcoming project. “Fix a Drink,” released Friday, features a similar delivery and subject matter for fans of his breakout hit.
Delivered with half-talking, half-singing lilt over the verse, Janson shrugs off the things he can’t control, like world news, the stock market and a broke-down truck, to focus on those that he can: making a good, strong drink. Written by Janson, “Boat” co-writer Chris DuBois and Ashley Gorley (Luke Bryan’s “Play It Again,” Dierks Bentley’s “Black”), the song is one of a new batch that Janson is currently recording for his next album.
“These lyrics are timely for the world we live in,” Jason told Rolling Stone Country of the song “Everybody,” a live video of which came out through Audience Network in March. “I wrote it with a big smile on my face, and it’s my hope that people smile and laugh when they hear it, too.
Janson is scheduled for near daily touring through the summer, hitting Nashville multiple times. He plays the Grand Ole Opry twice in May, joins the lineup of CMA Music Festival in June and returns in September for a two-night, sold-out outdoor performance.
