See Lanco’s Earnest ‘Greatest Love Story’ on ‘Today’
Country rock band Lanco made their national television debut earlier, performing “Greatest Love Story” on Today. The song, a streaming hit on Spotify, appears on the Nashville-based group’s self-titled EP from 2016.
True to its title, the gentle ballad spins up a narrative about two people who delay their dreams of wedded bliss. Rather than two high school sweethearts who head off into the sunset, one heads to college while the other works and drinks away his free time. They reconvene down the road to discover the spark is still there and the story resumes even more intensely than before. Lanco’s performance on Today is another fine showcase for the group’s live talents, featuring some subtle harmonies and restrained instrumental work.
Led by singer Brandon Lancaster, Lanco released their debut EP, featuring “Long Live Tonight,” in 2016. The group – made up of Lancaster, Tripp Howell, Eric Steedly, Jared Hampton and Chandler Baldwin – opened shows for Brothers Osborne in 2016 and is currently slated to play Bonnaroo in Manchester, Tennessee on June 9th. They plan to issue their debut full-length album, produced by Jay Joyce, later in the year.
