Kenny Chesney Announces Four New Summer Concerts
Aside from select festival appearances and two stadium shows at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, Kenny Chesney is mainly taking the summer off from touring. But the “Setting the World on Fire” singer has announced four new shows for August.
Chesney will play Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on August 4th and the Wharf Amphitheatre in Orange Beach, Alabama, on August 5th. He then heads north for two shows in Uncasville, Connecticut, on August 10th and 11th. Smooth-country trio Midland, whose debut single “Drinking Problem” is climbing the charts, will open all four dates.
“It’s going to allow me to take a really authentic deep breath,” Chesney told Rolling Stone Country in October about his break from touring. “If you think about it, in 2015 and 2016, we did 150-something shows in an 18-month period, big stadium shows. And that’s a lot of shows at that level. Like my grandmother said, ‘Chocolate cake is great, but enough will make you sick.’ So we’re putting the cake away for just a little bit and then we’ll put it back out on the table.”
Chesney headlined Tortuga Music Festival this past weekend in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. His next live performance is set for April 30th at the Stagecoach Festival in Indio, California.
Tickets for Chesney’s four new concerts go on sale April 14th.
