HBO to Air Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Saturday
The 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will air on HBO this Saturday, April 29th. The ceremony took place in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on April 7th.
At this year’s festivities, Joan Baez, Electric Light Orchestra, Journey, Pearl Jam, Tupac Shakur and Yes were the recipients of the prestigious honor of being inducted into the Hall of Fame. Chic’s Nile Rodgers was presented with the Award for Musical Excellence. Special guests who appeared on-hand to induct the 2017 class included David Letterman, Rush and Snoop Dogg. The event even saw a reunion between Steve Perry and Journey, though the former frontman did not sing with the band.
The ceremony included excellent performances and collaborations from the inductees and presenters as well as tributes to Shakur as well as Prince, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2004. Lenny Kravitz was on hand to perform Prince’s “When Doves Cry” and “The Cross” with the Love Fellowship Choir, while Alicia Keys and YG joined Snoop Dogg for the Tupac tribute.
