Watch RaeLynn Sing Easygoing, Acoustic ‘Wildhorse’
The title track of RaeLynn‘s album Wildhorse was inspired by a poem her grandmother had written about the singer’s mother – free-spirited and confident, comfortable in her own skin. RaeLynn and co-writers Blair Daly and Hillary Lindsey kept the tradition going with her own spin on the idea, describing a headstrong woman who won’t be fenced in. “If you want a pretty lucky charm, if you want a trophy on your shelf, you better find somebody else,” she sings.
In a new video for Perez Hilton, RaeLynn demonstrates the song’s versatility by performing it as an acoustic number with acoustic guitar and box percussion. The looping, cooed vocal snippets from the studio version are gone (along with the snap-stuttering electronic beat), replaced by her guitarist’s live imitation of the melody. As ever, RaeLynn maintains the confidence she showed as a teenager competing on The Voice, casually delivering the tune with the ease of a seasoned vet.
“This last year I’ve just figured out so much about myself and I found so much confidence in myself,” RaeLynn told Rolling Stone Country just before the release of Wildhorse. “This record means the world to me because I hope every listener listens to this and every fan can find their ‘Wildhorse’ within them and what their unique thing is about them.”
RaeLynn recently finished up a supporting run on Blake Shelton’s Doin It to Country Songs tour and will soon headline clubs on her Rave Tour, which begins April 20th in Columbus, Ohio.
