Hear YG, DJ Mustard Unite on Stripper Anthem ‘Pop It, Shake It’
YG celebrates strippers for being “independent women” on his DJ Mustard-produced new track “Pop It, Shake It.”
Dubbing himself “West side G, big spender, big tipper,” the Compton rapper details every second of a lap dance: “Let me see ya no hands/ Let me see ya pop it like rubber bands/ Can ya make me feel like a man?” Mustard offers a nimble beat built on a bubbling synth line and mellotron-styled strings.
YG released “Pop It, Shake It” as an official single on Friday. The duo worked closely on YG’s early work, but DJ Mustard didn’t contribute to YG’s 2016 LP, Still Brazy, after a public dispute. “[Mustard and I] fell out right when we were supposed to start working on the album,” the rapper told Complex.
During the election cycle, YG voiced his distaste for America’s eventual president with Nipsey Hussle team-up “FDT” (or “Fuck Donald Trump”). In November, he released the Red Friday mixtape, and he collaborated with Lil Wayne the following month on “Trill.” Last month, YG united with Mariah Carey for her smooth R&B track “I Don’t.”
