Watch Louis C.K.’s Edgy ‘SNL’ Opening Monologue
Louis C.K. opened his fourth time hosting Saturday Night Live with an edgy, electrifying 10-minute monologue where the comedian touched on racist chickens, giraffes and seedy roadside motels.
“Here’s a joke: Why did the chicken cross the road?” the comedian asked immediately after taking the Studio 8H stage. “Because there was a black guy walking behind him. And he was nervous, and he was new to the city, this chicken.”
C.K. reasoned that it’s okay for chickens to be prejudice because “their species murder rate is 100 percent.”
Despite his controversial comments about Donald Trump earlier in the week during a visit to The Late Show, C.K. didn’t dwell on the president during his SNL monologue. Instead, the comedian shared an anecdote about staying at a fancy hotel and getting into a tiff with housekeeping about missing laundry.
During the bit, C.K. skewered white people, himself included, for demanding and receiving preferential treatment at hotels.
“I’ll defend that right now: Look, it’s wrong that white people get preferential treatment. It’s wrong. But as long as they do, what’s going on at this hotel?” C.K. asked. “I’m supposed to get the best! Because I’m white, which is awful and wrong, but where is it right now?”
The anecdote ended with the comedian realizing he didn’t actually give the hotel any laundry to clean.
