Watch Brad Paisley Sing 4/20 Song Parodies on ‘Tonight Show’
Brad Paisley and Jimmy Fallon celebrated 4/20 on Thursday’s Tonight Show by singing Twitter users’ stoner-themed song parodies.
“Hello, dankness, my old friend / On my weed I do depend,” the duo sang, nodding to Simon & Garfunkel’s brooding folk-rock classic “The Sound of Silence.” “My alarm is probably beeping’ / Late to work, I’m probably sleepin’.” Earlier, the country star nailed a twangy version of R. Kelly’s uplifting R&B smash “I Believe I Can Fly”: “I believe I am high / I believe I am in the high sky,” he crooned. “Overthinking about time and space / Also imagining a zebra race.”
Paisley also sang weed-themed solo spins on the Weeknd’s pop-funk hit “Can’t Feel My Face” (“I can’t feel my face cuz I’m too high / Ate a brownie / It’s 4/20“) and his own “Mud on the Tires” (“Come on now, what do you say / Girl, I can’t hardly wait / Let’s set a little bud on fire“).
For their closing duet, Fallon played Kiki Dee to Paisley’s Elton John on a baked duet take on “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” (“Don’t go smoking my weed / Babe, I’m already high / Oh, honey, I’m getting hungry / Baby, I’ll order fries“).
Paisley’s also performed the fittingly titled “Contact High” – a single from his newly released 11th LP, Love and War – on The Tonight Show. The singer, decked out in a cowboy hat and Keith Richards T-shirt, sang about a bewitching woman (“It ain’t no Bonnaroo / The only thing smoking in this place is you”) and unleashed a series of lonesome guitar solos on his psychedelic-colored Fender Telecaster.
