Watch Oklahoma City Thunder’s Victor Oladipo Sing ‘I Believe I Can Fly’ in Hilarious Video
‘When he’s not playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder, there’s a good chance you’ll find Victor Oladipo working on his post-basketball career as a singer. The fourth year guard might just be the best singer currently in the NBA, as he proved several years ago when he stole the show at an Indiana University Athletics event with his shockingly good rendition of Bill Withers’ classic “Ain’t No Sunshine.”
Since then, Oladipo has won a pair of talent shows with R. Kelly‘s “I Believe I Can Fly,” warmed up a New York crowd featuring the likes of Rihanna and Nicki Minaj with some Frank Sinatra during the 2015 NBA Dunk Contest and sang Christmas carols to children at the OU Children’s Hospital. He hasn’t been shy about letting his hopes of one day getting a record deal be known, either, which we first learned in 2015 when he made the most of TNT miking him up for the Rising Stars Challenge.
“I’ve probably been singing since I was like 7 or 8-years-old,” Oladipo told TMZ last year. “My momma made me sing in church growing up. It was kind of a hidden talent of mine for a while, but over the years I’ve kind of been getting out of my shell.”
With all that in mind, we figured it was time to give Oladipo a real opportunity to prove himself as an artist, not just as a someone who can sing better than your average hooper. So in addition to having videos on YouTube of himself showing off his singing chops, he now has his own music video based on one of his favorite songs. All we can hope for is that it gets him a step closer to one day turning his singing dream into a reality.
If it does, you can thank us later, Vic.
