Hear Zac Brown Band’s Heartfelt New Song ‘Family Table’
Zac Brown Band are taking their newly homebound thinking literally on the newest track from their upcoming LP, Welcome Home. “Family Table” is about one of the most common household objects, but it’s also a metaphor for the communion of the family unit, which is the subject of the band’s sentimental new lyric video for the song.
After the controversial detour into pop and EDM of the band’s previous album, 2015’s Jekyll + Hyde, Brown and company have gotten back in touch with their roots and back to basics on Welcome Home. That goes for the music as well as the lyrics: “Family Table” distinctly channels fellow Georgians the Allman Brothers Band, in particular their classic instrumental “Jessica,” while ruminating on family traditions like celebrating birthdays and thanking God.
Welcome Home, produced by David Cobb, is Zac Brown Band’s fifth studio album and will be released May 12th via Warner Music Group, Elektra Records and the band’s own Southern Ground label. While the band scrapped plans for their annual Southern Ground festival in Charleston, South Carolina, they’ll head out on a 40-date tour beginning May 12th in Alpharetta, Georgia.
