See Brad Paisley Nod to Georgia Satellites in ‘Heaven South’ Video
Brad Paisley releases his new album Love and War on Friday, and he’s still parsing out songs and videos from the project. The singer-guitarist released a new music video on Facebook for the record’s lead-off track “Heaven South.” (Watch the video above.)
The homegrown video features Paisley and his band performing in the bed of an old pick-up truck as it drives down a scenic road – not unlike the Georgia Satellites did in the clip for their one-hit-wonder “Keep Your Hands to Yourself.” Whether it’s an intentional homage or not, it works, as Paisley and crew re-create a good-natured, if bumpy ride, down the thoroughfare. The clip was shot, with several hundred fans as extras, in historic downtown Franklin, Tennessee, an idyllic burg that sits just south of Nashville.
Paisley co-wrote “Heaven South” with Brent Anderson and Chris DuBois, unveiling the song, which romanticizes the quintessential Southern small town, last month. Other recent Love and War releases include “selfie#theinternetisforever,” “Last Time for Everything,” and “Gold All Over the Ground,” the last of which was based on a poem by Johnny Cash. He also duets with Mick Jagger and John Fogerty on the LP. “This album really was about collaborations” he tells Rolling Stone Country.
Love and War is out April 21st. Paisley is currently touring through the fall.
