Hear Matt Damon Get Bumped as United Airlines Spokesman on ‘Kimmel’
United Airlines customers know how degrading it is to get bumped from a flight – or, in the case of one passenger, dragged bloodied off a plane. Matt Damon has experience getting the boot, having been repeatedly “bumped” from Jimmy Kimmel Live! as part of a fake feud extending back nearly a decade.
In a goofy sketch on Tuesday’s episode, the actor appeared as the company’s new celebrity spokesperson in a TV ad – only to run off-script and take a stand against bumping cruelty.
“I can’t do this anymore,” Damon said. “Because I know what it’s like to get bumped. Trust me – I’ve been getting bumped from Jimmy’s show for the last eight years, and it takes a toll. We’re people, dammit, and we deserve to be treated with dignity – not told night after night, ‘There’s somebody more important, so take a hike.'”
The clip ended, naturally, with a United employee (played by Kimmel) booting Damon from the ad itself. “You people are animals!” the actor screamed, followed by a sample of the horrifying scream from the real-life incident.
“In some cases,” Kimmel cracked, “some people deserve to get bumped.”
